Laser-excited PEEM using a fully tunable fs-laser system

چکیده
fully tunable fs-laser system A. Höfer K. Duncker M. Kiel S. Förster W. Widdra The ferroelectric domain structure on a (001) surface of a BaTiO3 single crystal prepared under ultrahigh vacuum conditions is imaged by laser-excited photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM). The PEEM images allow for discrimination of three domain types by their different photoemission yields. To characterize the contrast between the different ferroelectric domains of BaTiO3(001) in the region of 4.0–4.6 eV close to the photoemission threshold, the broad wavelength tunability of the femtosecond laser system is used. The femtosecond time resolution within two-photon PEEM experiments, using two fully independently tunable laser beams, is demonstrated for the first image potential state of Ag(001). In a pump-probe setup with a cross-correlation full-width at half-maximum of 70 fs, an angle-integrated apparent lifetime of 40 fs is derived from the PEEM intensities. In contrast with energy-resolved two-photon photoemission measurements, PEEM data reveal a 17-fs shorter lifetime. This difference is discussed by considering the co-excitation of bulk states, which leads to an additional time-dependent photoelectron contribution in PEEM.

متن کاملIncreased signals from short-wavelength-excited fluorescent molecules using sub-Ti:Sapphire wavelengths
We report the use of an all-solid-state ultrashort pulsed source specifically for two-photon microscopy at wavelengths shorter than those of the conventional Ti:Sapphire laser. Our approach involves sum-frequency mixing of the output from an optical parametric oscillator (λ= 1400-1640 nm) synchronously pumped by a Yb-doped fibre laser (λ= 1064 nm), with the residual pump radiation. This generat...

A hybrid of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer and a time-of-flight "magnetic-bottle type" photoelectron (PE) spectrometer is used for fs pump-probe investigations of the excited state dynamics of thiophene. A resonant two-photon ionization spectrum of the onset of the excited states has been recorded with a tunable UV laser of 190 fs pulse width. With the pump laser set to the first intense tr...
متن کاملA phase stabilized and pulse shaped Ti : Sapphire oscillator - amplifier laser system for the LCLS rf photo
We have designed a laser system for the Linac Coherent Light Source rf photoinjector consisting of a Ti:Sapphire oscillator and 2 amplifiers using Chirped Pulse Amplification. The output after tripling will be 0.5 mJ tunable UV pulses at 120 Hz, with wavelength around 260 nm, pulsewidth of 10 ps FWHM and 200 fs rise and fall times. Amplitude stability is expected to be 1% rms in the UV and timi...
متن کاملGeneration of vacuum ultraviolet radiation by sum frequency mixing of a femtosecond and a nanosecond laser
Ž . The interaction of high-intensity short pulse fs lasers with atomic or molecular vapors permits the conversion of visible light to intense coherent radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet spectral region. We demonstrate sum frequency mixing of a Ž . Ž . high-intensity short pulse fs laser with a conventional long pulse ns laser to extend the accessible wavelength range of harmonic generation. T...
